We headed down to Boise through a late night snowstorm for Jen’s annual Idaho Federation of Families board meeting. The kids and I had originally planned to climb at the Black Cliffs, but rain forced us indoors. We instead headed over to Asana Climbing and Bouldering Gym where we spent a fun day bouldering while sheltered from the rain.
The following day was considerably colder, but drier. The kids and I drove down to Swan Falls, 50 ,minutes south of Boise along the Snake River. Numerous large basalt boulders litter the flood plain, remnants of the Bonneville Flood. We spent the day bouldering and catching lizards.
See it Yourself: Swan Falls lies a 50 minute drive south of Boise in the Birds of Prey NCA. It offers spectacular bouldering opportunities as well as camping, hiking and fishing.
